If you have never been to Zanzibar you could be missing out on an island that is steeped in history and a mix of culinary worlds. Where east meets west. Although this small island is a brilliant destination to relax on the beach, and soak up the warm african sun. Zanzbar offers a collection of spices and dishes introduced by the various cultures throughout history. One of my absolute favourites is Chicken Pilau. Zanzibar also offers a variety of  fresh seafood dishes cooked with the spices and coconut grown on the island.

As you walk down the small streets of Stonetown, the Locals will greet you with “Mambo, Rafiki”, you can be assured that the island is friendly.  The back streets are lined with local shops selling, various tourist trinkets, but also a food market to get lost in the smells of spice and colour. Not to forget that Freddy Mecury was born in Zanzbar.

As far as accomodation is concerned the island offers different standards of accomodation ranging from the extremely inexpensive basic hotel rooms to the ultra luxurious beach villas.

The recommeneded length of stay is 2 nights in stonetown and then 3 to 4 days at one of the beach resorts.

Activities offered:

  • Spice tours
  • Scuba Diving & snorkeling
  • Deep sea Fishing
  • Sun bathing
  • Dolphin tours
  • Stonetown walks with a local to explore the history and cuisine.
